About
Jefferson, Georgia Weather
The weather data you see on this site comes from
Watersedge Court near the lake at Northminister Estates in Jefferson, GA.
I have been interested in weather for many years and use to report weather
to channel 2 ( WSB ) back in the 70's . At that time I had an old
Heathkit weather station.
We have moved many times since then and lived in Saudi Arabia for a year. My
wife purchased a wired Weather Monitor II from Davis some years ago. I
have taken up the hobby of computers and decided to interface the weather station
to my computer with Virtual Weather Station software.
I later bought a Vantage Pro 2 weather station by Davis. This is
a complete wireless station and the instruments are solar powered. The
receiving unit is interfaced with one of my computers which is on a network in
my home. The instruments are certified and are very accurate.
Data Output
Northminster Estates Weather outputs weather data to
these websites, Weather for You, Underground Weather, NOAA, and ARPS every five minutes. The data is kept as a matter of record for their use. Underground
Weather also post all of the information on their website. ARPS post
the information to all Amateur Radio Stations wishing it, 24/7.
Data Input
Data for the quick 5 day forecast comes from the National Weather Service in Atlanta, GA. In
addition, the warnings and watches come from the NWS. Local data, such
as temp, rain, humidity, heat index and wind chill as well as wind speed and
direction, comes from my personal weather station.
About this Data
The data you see on this website
should not be used for making critical decisions, particularly in emergencies,
or hazardous weather conditions. Why is this? First of all, the readings
I take at my house may not be 100% accurate. This is not, after all, a
professional weather station. For example, if my automatic sprinkler system
comes on, the humidity could go way up. This would not be the same across
the lake.
The other reason you shouldn't make important decisions based on this data
(or any other internet based data) is that what you see here is generated
automatically. Most
of the time, there isn't a live person here posting the data to the internet. Internet
connections can go bad, the computer can mysteriously lock up. The forecast
is updated on a timer, rather than on actual conditions of the day.
If you expect inclement weather, please turn on the television, listen to the
radio, or consult NOAA weather radio for the most accurate information.
